Vaccine Education

The information below is intended to help families become more informed when making healthcare decisions for themselves and their children. At Baker Chiropractic & Wellness, Dr. Baker believes parents should take time to research, ask questions, understand ingredients, and make educated decisions regarding immune health and vaccinations.

Mercury & Vaccine Ingredients

In past years, some vaccines contained thimerosal, a mercury based preservative. Concerns have been raised regarding neurological and immune system stress associated with mercury exposure, particularly in infants and young children.

While many vaccines today contain reduced or removed amounts of thimerosal, some may still contain trace amounts. Families are encouraged to discuss vaccine ingredients with their healthcare provider and verify whether vaccines are mercury free when making decisions for themselves or their children.

Allergies & Sensitivities

It is important to understand the ingredients contained within any vaccine. Certain vaccines may contain ingredients associated with common allergies or sensitivities including:
• Eggs
• Yeast
• Dairy Related Components
• Preservatives
• Additives

Children or adults with allergies, sensitivities, immune challenges, neurological concerns, or previous reactions should discuss these factors carefully with qualified healthcare providers before vaccination.

Supporting the Immune System

Dr. Baker encourages families to support overall immune health through proper nutrition, healthy digestion, sleep, hydration, movement, stress management, and whole food nutrition.

General immune wellness recommendations may include:
• Nutrient Dense Foods
• Fruits & Vegetables
• Proper Hydration
• Healthy Sleep
• Reduced Sugar Intake
• Limiting Processed Foods
• Healthy Gut Function

It is also commonly recommended that vaccinations not be administered when a child or adult is actively sick or recovering from illness.

Vaccine Decision Making

Every child and family is different. Personal health history, allergies, immune function, sensitivities, and lifestyle factors should all be considered carefully when making healthcare decisions.

Parents are encouraged to:
• Research Vaccine Ingredients
• Understand Possible Side Effects
• Discuss Concerns with Providers
• Review Family Health History
• Learn About Exemptions & State Requirements
• Make Informed Healthcare Decisions

Alternative Vaccine Schedule Information

Some families choose to explore alternative or delayed vaccination schedules designed to space out vaccines over a longer period of time. These schedules are intended by some providers to reduce overall stress on the immune system.

One commonly referenced alternative schedule includes:

• 4 Months, Hib & IPV
• 5 Months, DTaP
• 6 Months, Hib & IPV
• 7 Months, DTaP
• 8 Months, Hib
• 9 Months, DTaP
• 15 Months, Measles
• 17 Months, Hib & IPV
• 18 Months, DTaP
• 27 Months, Rubella
• 39 Months, Mumps
• 4 Years Minimum, Hepatitis B
• 5 Years Minimum, Varicella

Some families also choose to discuss antibody titer testing with their healthcare provider before additional boosters.

Dr. Baker combines chiropractic care, Applied Kinesiology, nutritional support, and functional wellness strategies designed to help support nervous system function, immune balance, digestion, and overall wellness naturally.
